I have a daughter who loves to eat. She is a very sweet and loving girl, she doesn’t cry or fuss much. But once she gets hungry, she would have you wondering what happened to that sweet girl you were playing with just moments ago. I know her hunger cues so whenever she begins to act up, I am already up and about trying to get her food prepared.
She watches me sometimes getting her food ready but that doesn’t make her stop fussing. In my head, I’m like RELAX can’t you see me preparing your food; I know she is just a baby and not fully aware but she gets so preoccupied with what she wants that she doesn’t even realize its already on its way.
I believe we act the same way towards our heavenly father sometimes. We get so preoccupied with what we want that we forget to relax and receive all that he has already prepared for us.
See Matthew 6:30-33(MSG): If God gives such attention to the appearance of wild flowers-most of which are never even seen-don’t you think he’ll attend to you, take pride in you, do his best for you? What I’m trying to do here is to get you to relax, to not be so preoccupied with getting, so you can respond to God’s giving. People who don’t know God and the way he works fuss over these things, but you know God and how he works. Steep your life in God-reality, God-initiative, God-provisions. Don’t worry about missing out. You’ll find all your everyday human concerns will be met.
God is a loving father and all he wants to do is give us the very best, just as any loving parent would want to give their child. But first, we must pay attention and respond to all he has to give; without doing this, it will be difficult to receive.
The enemy tries to distract us daily and causes us to shift our focus from the one who has all we need because he knows that we can’t receive with a distracted mind.
Shifting your focus from God to your situation will always bring about negative emotions such as fear, anxiety, depression, and anger. But when your focus is on Him, His presence will replace those negative emotions for positive ones like joy, peace, and hope.
Responding and Receiving

We fuss because we do not know God and the way he works. This is so true. I’ve been waiting for a response on an application I sent some months ago and sometimes I get really anxious and uneasy because I really want it to work out. I think of why it’s taking so long to get a response, and what happens if I don’t get a positive response? I intentionally have to stop and remind myself who my heavenly father is and what His intentions are towards me.
Having personal knowledge of who God is and what His intentions are towards you can help displace worry and fear from your life. The scripture above mentions words like Steep, God-reality, God-initiative, and God provision; let’s break these down to give you a better understanding.
Steep – To soak, to cover with or plunge, to saturate or subject thoroughly.
God-reality – His existence and consciousness.
God Initiative – His action, aggressiveness, ambition, and drive.
God provision – His ability to satisfy our needs and wishes and he’s being prepared beforehand.
Putting all this together shows that God wants us to soak, cover, plunge, saturate, or subject ourselves thoroughly into His existence, consciousness, action, ambition, and drive.
God wants you to be confident in His ability to satisfy your needs and wishes, and also His ability to always be prepared and ready beforehand. I know this is often easier said than done because we are surrounded by very difficult situations. But you must constantly remind ourselves that God is never caught off guard by your situation, he knows just what to do and how to help if you trust him.
Trusting always comes with some level of personal knowledge. It’s difficult to trust someone you know nothing of. I definitely cannot trust a total stranger because I have no idea of their intentions and motives towards me.
This is the same with our relationship with God. As we become acquainted with Him, we gradually understand His motives and intentions towards us which are of good and not of evil.
The enemy wants you to be anxious, fearful, and filled with worry. This is how he gets into your mind and keep you bound, but God wants you to relax, be full of faith, and receive the amazing life available to you through Christ Jesus.
So the next time you find yourself worrying, remember that God is right there ready to meet your need. Just respond to him, receive and tell the devil NOT TODAY.
God loves you.
