Do you know the truth or have you been believing a lie?
On various occasions when Jesus spoke in the bible, he often said “I tell you the truth”. After coming across this phrase repeatedly it occurred to me that Jesus was trying to create truth awareness.
Before Jesus came, the world was in a state of darkness and deception. The devil through his lies made Adam and Eve forfeit their position and assignment, he is still doing the same today. Jesus came into the world to expose the lies of the devil and to restore humanity back to God’s original plan.
What is the meaning of truth?
The truth is still the truth, even if no one believes it. A lie is still a lie, even if everyone believes it.-Unknown
Truth is the actual state of a matter. Truth remains steadfast and unwavering regardless of any manipulation or culture. As believers, our truth is the word of God that has been given to help us fight against the lies of the enemy.
Every day, the devil works tirelessly trying to make us accept as true that which is false, he does this by speaking negativity into our minds. Once the mind becomes infiltrated with lies, we get trapped in a cycle of defeat. Roman 12:2 tells us that in order to know God’s will for our lives, we must first be transformed by the renewing of our minds.
Don’t copy the behavior and customs of this world, but let God transform you into a new person by changing the way you think. Then you will learn to know God’s will for you, which is good and pleasing and perfect.
As I spend time reading the word of God, I realize how much my mind needs to be transformed. The Holy Spirit once said to me “I want you to get to the place where truth becomes your reality”. You see, we have listened so much to the lies of the enemy that the truth has become strange and unfamiliar.
It’s sad that we sometimes choose to believe the lies of the enemy rather than believing the truth spoken by God. We are fighting a spiritual battle and the only way to defeat the devil is by knowing and applying the truth.
Knowing the truth
My people are ruined because they don’t know what’s right or true.-Hosea 4:6
The word of God written in the bible contains truth. Learning and knowing this truth is solely our responsibility, we must spend time unlearning the lies that have been fed to our mind over the years. The bible isn’t a decorative tool that’s meant to make your bedside stool look pretty or take up space on your mobile phone. It’s a book of truthful instructions given by God to help you reign in life.
Growing up, I was told that sleeping with the bible beside me would prevent bad dreams and keep the devil away, lol. I believed it then because I didn’t know any better but now I know that having the bible beside you is not enough to keep the enemy away. It’s knowing and applying its content that makes the difference.
The devil is happy when we choose to live in ignorance because ignorance empowers him and we cannot claim victory over an area where we lack the truth.
Lately, with everything going on in the world, I’ve become more hungry for the truth of God’s word because I know that without it I can neither thrive nor survive.
In these times you must make the word of God your priority. The way you get hungry for food is the same way you must get hungry for the truth. You must desire to know the things that have been freely given to you by God.
If you don’t know that God’s will is for you to be healed in your body and mind then you will accept every sickness and disease that comes your way.
If you don’t know that God’s will is for you to be free then you will continue to live in bondage.
If you don’t know that God’s will is for you to have financial prosperity then you will continue to live in poverty.
If you don’t know that you are an overcomer and have the victory, you will continue to live in defeat.
The most amazing thing is that our truth is alive. Jesus is the way, the truth, and the life. As you spend time reading the bible, He(truth) will be revealed to you. Your mind will be renewed and your life transformed.
I’ve always wondered what the world would be like if every believer read and applied the word of God into their lives. We would be unstoppable.
Your heavenly father is a good father and He wants the best for you but you must know and accept it as true in order to see the manifestation.
You must seek to know the truth because the truth will save, deliver, transform, and set you free.
I want to challenge you to dig deeper into God. Let go of all the distractions and make Him the center of your focus. I know life gets busy but its important to put first things first.
Application
Set a specific time when you can spend time studying the word(truth) of God.
Meditate and confess the word(truth) over your life daily.
Apply the word(truth) to your life.
Your life will never remain the same.
